UoBAT come together to support Movember
In a month-long campaign, the Trust and our academies raised awareness and funds for men's health issues through the Movember movement.
As November ends, UoBAT is delighted with the success of its Movember campaign, a month-long initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for men's health issues. The campaign, led by Team UoBAT, saw participants grow impressive moustaches to spark conversations about mental health, suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer.
Key contributors to the campaign were acknowledged for their dedication and enthusiasm. Notable mentions include Jon Francies, Principal of The St Leonards Academy; Rob Smith, Principal of Churchwood Primary Academy; Alex Brewer, Director of Marketing and Communications; Harry Mann, Teacher at Silverdale Primary Academy; and Dominic O'Regan, Principal of West St Leonards Primary Academy. Their unwavering commitment to growing moustaches not only contributed to the funds but also symbolised the Trust's united stand on men's health issues.
Harry Mann's personal story and Mark Baker’s (Director of ICT) hosting of the first 'Let's talk about Men's Mental Health' discussion further underscored the Trust's commitment to addressing mental health challenges faced by men. The success of this event has paved the way for regular discussions on the topic, promising ongoing efforts to raise awareness and taking action.
Commenting on the initiative, Nicola Bury, Health and Wellbeing Partner, expressed gratitude to all participants and donors. "This Movember campaign has been a testament to our collective commitment to making a positive impact. It's heartening to see our community come together to tackle issues that often go unnoticed. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed and took part."
The Trust will continue its fundraising efforts for the Sussex Cancer Fund throughout the remainder of the year, with plans for more initiatives and fundraising activities.
As the Trust wraps up its Movember campaign, it emphasises the ongoing availability of support for all staff members. Mental Health Ambassadors and the Employee Assistance Programme are readily accessible resources, providing support/counselling sessions and assistance to those in need.
